Joe Budden was the target of major heat over the weekend after the rapper posted a picture of an Sikh man at the airport with the caption "Not on my watch Homeboy!" to his Instagram page on Friday. Many of his Muslim followers felt that the joke was racist and ignorant.
According to the Huffington Post, the photo found it's way on Twitter and users criticized the rapper for perpetuating stereotypes. Joe response was nonchalant at first. The rapper tweeted "u n***** have got to lighten up b..."
He then engaged in a conversation with a follower about his comments and claimed that he isn't racist and it was just a joke. "oh please.. Everyday there's a joke here in reference to blk folk & chicken/watermelon," he tweeted. "It's a stereotype, not racism."
In response to the backlash, the rapper deleted the post.
