When Macklemore was gifted with the award for Best Rap Album at the most recent Grammy Awards, even he was surprised by the honor. The majority of Hip-Hop fans strongly believed that Kendrick Lamar got robbed and should've won, even Macklemore. After the award show had wrapped up Macklemore sent Kendrick a text message explaining that he believes Kendrick should've been awarded with that honor over him.
In the past, Kendrick has stated that Macklemore's Grammy victory was "well deserved," and during a recent interview with Billboard and Schoolboy Q, he spoke a little more in-depth about his thoughts on Macklemore's win and the text he sent him.
"That text surprised me, but Macklemore is a genuine dude. However it panned out, I wish him much success. He touched people's souls, and no one can take that away. Really, the whole Grammy moment was incredible. Not everyone gets that shot."
