"12 Years a Slave" star Lupita Nyong'o made a touching speech about black women embracing their skin color during the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon, and named African pop singer Dencia's "Whitenicious" whitening cream. She read a letter from a fan, thanking her for proudly showing her natural skin on the red carpet.

"'Dear Lupita,' it reads. 'I think you're really lucky to be this Black but yet this successful in Hollywood overnight. I was just about to buy Dencia's Whitenicious cream to lighten my skin when you appeared on the world map and saved me.'"

At the end of reading the letter, Lupita said,"My heart bled a little when I read those words. And so I hope that my presence on your screens and in the magazines may lead you, young girl, on a similar journey. That you will feel the validation of your external beauty but also get to the deeper business of being beautiful inside. There is no shame in black beauty."

The speech went viral, and was one of the most talked about moments of the week, so it was no surprise that Dencia took to Twitter to share her thoughts on the perceived diss. Dencia claims that the letter sent to Lupita was fake, "A girl wrote u a letter?lol thru which email when I just checked ur twitter n can't see an email address!!Ir pr tried n thanks 4 the Pub."

When a Lupita fan told her that she would never be at Lupita's level, Dencia struck back, saying that she would never take a role because she looked like a slave, "Duh cuz I won't accept a role because they think I look like a slave,I work hard and decide what I want 2 do but she can't do that, the white man got their lil slave lol."
