50 Cent and Fat Joe have a documented history as rivals in the Hip-Hop world.  However, the world took notice when both artists took the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards stage to honor the late Chris Lighty.  Still we didn't anticipate a track from the two.

With the dropping of the Kay Slay track "Free Again" featuring both rappers, we see that both men have moved forward from their past mutual disdain for one another.

50 spoke to Vibe about the process:

"The actual Joe record, Kay Slay came to see me and I was just finishing up with Animal Ambition, and I said, 'Yo, I got records.' I had a bunch of records left over from the writing I did for that. [Kay Slay] played it and I was like, 'That's the record that we are supposed to do—me and Joe.'"

"[Joe] wrote about his experience in having to go away, so I had to use the actual chorus for my balance on the actual record and write with a completely different energy from what he wrote. Because [his experience] is not true for me."

In the end, he says he admires Joe for his honesty:

"I love working with artists when they pull from real experiences, I think it's priceless. I think it will mark a period in [Joe's] actual life in art after he's dead and gone. That's what makes authenticity special within our culture."

50 Cent's Animal Ambition drops June 3rd.
