By now it's well known that Queens rapper Action Bronson's previous line of work was as a professional chef. And in a recent interview with The Columbus Dispatch, Action Bronson discussed how his culinary work experience as well as how his mother helped with his rap career.

"It sounds weird, but it's very, very similar," Bronson says, talking about the connection between being a chef and being a rapper. "You have to be creative, think quickly on your feet, work well under pressure — boom, boom, boom. All of those things come into play."

However, the possibility of Action Bronson's foray into the rap game wouldn't be if it weren't for his mother. "She gave me the money to make my first mixtape," Action says. "She did everything for me. She's the best woman."

Action Bronson also spoke on how his mother, despite funding his rap career, has only seen her son perform live recently. "It was amazing," Action says of having her at a show. "She's lived with me for 30...years. I'm her only boy. Just having her there felt 100 percent."
