The Westboro Baptist Church didn't waste any time with its announcement to picket Nelson Mandela's funeral. According to a Heavy News report dated December 5, the WBC announced its intention to fly to Africa to picket Mandela's funeral within minutes of the announcement of his death.
WBC sites the fact that the Rainbow Nation has no ban on the Westboro Baptist Church. WBC tweeted its intention at 9 p.m. December 5: "THANK GOD for Nelson Mandela being dropped into hell! Westboro Baptist Church booking flight to South Africa (not banned) to picket funeral!"
According to the Sandon Chronicle, all roads to Mandela's Houghton home were closed at 7:30 a.m. on December 6. Police are now barricading the road and are not letting people through.
Many are outraged at the WBC intention to picket Mandela's funeral. It is unknown whether the WBC will be stopped from picketing the funeral.
