Rihanna made history Sunday night when she became the youngest person ever to sell out the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, but that most certainly wouldn't have been the case if concertgoers knew what they were in store for.

"Ri-Ri Rip-Off!" screamed the front page of The Star Johannesburg newspaper the next morning. Labeling her performance “below-par,” the article cited “allegations that Rihanna was miming some of her songs, did not perform a single costume change, had not performed some of her biggest hits and lacked vitality.”

"It was obvious," photographer Sharon Seretio told the paper of the Barbadian singer's lip-synching. "You know when someone is lip-synching. I was in the Golden Circle [close to the stage]. I could see it."

Fan Nicole Contini added, "...I don't feel the ticket prices were fair considering the level of performance."

Ticket prices, though below $100, were considered high for the local market.

Criticism of Rihanna's act didn't end there. Fans also took to Twitter to air out the singer for phoning it in.

"I was lip syncing better to the backing vocals than she was- at least I knew the words. Not even an outfit change! Wft #Rihanna," one person tweeted. "Yoh, #Rihanna gives new meaning to lip syncing. At least keep the microphone somewhere near your mouth, dear...," wrote another.
