The tragedy befallen on star NFL running back Adrian Peterson just got a little more strange and a little more sad.
Apparently, the son who died wasn't Adrian, Jr., who the running back has been pictured with on numerous occasions. It was actually another child, who he literally just heard about three months ago.
The 2-year-old boy was was beaten to death by his mother's boyfriend, and AP had never gotten to see him before Thursday. That was their first time meeting, while the boy was hooked up to life support.
The story goes that 2-3 months back, the mother had a paternity test done to see if one of her exes was the father. The test turned out to be negative, and she turned to Adrian next. He never questioned whether or not he was the father, and assumed responsibility for the child. AP was supposed to fly out to South Dakota later this month to visit with his new son, but he never had a chance to.
