A man convicted of raping a woman collapsed after learning his victim is HIV positive.
Richard Thomas, 27, broke into the Greater Manchester, UK home of an acquaintance on July 20th to find the unidentified woman asleep in her bed. He then proceeded to sexually assault her.
The victim awoke to find Thomas raping her from behind.
Thomas collapsed from shock when police informed him of the woman's HIV status, and is still waiting to hear if he contracted the incurable disease.
His lawyer, Virginia Hayton, had little sympathy for her client. "it is his own fault, if he had not committed this offence, he would not have placed himself in this position."
