Samsung reportedly paid $5 apiece for the 1 million copies of Jay-Z's "Magna Carta Holy Grail" that it plans on giving away to Galaxy owners for free.

Yesterday during the NBA finals, the rap mogul and Samsung premiered a commercial announcing Hov's new project. The ad revealed that it would be available July 4 to Samsung Galaxy owners that download the "Magna Carta" app.

According to the "Wall Street Journal," the smartphone users will be able to cop the album a full 72 hours before its release to the general public. It's not known if Nielsen SoundScan will count Samsung's purchases in its sales tallies.
