Kendrick Lamar has accomplished quite a lot in a rather short amount of time, and he'll be recognized for those accomplishments at the 26th annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.
On June 27, The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers plan to honor Kendrick with the ASCAP Vanguard Award, which recognizes music that is helping to shape the future of popular American music. Kendrick find himself in good company, as the Beastie Boys, Taio Cruz, Diplo, Janelle Monae, and Santigold have all been honored with the award.
"Kendrick's smart, structured story-telling and genre-bending sound make him stand out amongst his peers," said ASCAP President Paul Williams. "He pushes the boundaries with his creativity, perfectly illustrating everything that the ASCAP Vanguard Award recognizes."
Congrats, K. Dot.
