After creating a statue in 2006 depicting Britney Spears giving birth, artist Daniel Edwards is back on the scene. The artist is planning to make another statue of a pregnant celebrity, this time Kim Kardashian. Kim has received quite a bit of negative publicity for her weight gain, and in a way, this is Edwards' way of declaring her beautiful.
"I was inspired by the beauty of Kim Kardashian and felt quite put-off by the media's criticism of her weight gain during pregnancy," Edwards told Complex. "Such criticism should be off limits. We live in a media-absorbed culture where anyone can access and share a celebrity's most intimate moments. Daniel visually captures that intimacy."
Edwards plans on naming the statue "L.A. Fertility," and will display it at LAB Art Gallery in Los Angeles on June 5. Viewers will even be permitted to rub Kim's pregnant belly for good luck.
