It was recently discovered that the grave of beloved actor Michael Clarke Duncan had been vandalized, apparently in an act of racism, according to TMZ.

A family friend stopped by Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood to deliver flowers to Duncan's grave when she noticed a tiny figure of a cartoonish black face sitting on top of the grave marker. The friend believes the black face is the image of "Sambo", a character that's long been considered an offensive and extremely racist depiction of black people.

Family and friends were shocked by the desecration, and after contacting the LAPD, they were told the act could be considered a hate crime. Police are currently investigating the situation.

According to the family, Forest Lawn immediately removed the figure from Duncan's tomb.
