Public Enemy frontman Chuck D does not think black rappers should use the n-word. Chuck recently criticized Jay-Z and Kanye for their generous use of the word in the song "N****s In Paris," telling an audience in Lyon, France, "we are African NOT N****s In Paris."
Chuck went on to discuss being called a "n***a" by a fan at the show in Lyon.
"He didn't know," Chuck said. "It's a language cultural thing where they've seen black men call themselves that like happy a** slaves for 20 yrs."
Chuck acknowledged Jay-Z's intelligence, but feels he needs to show more leadership.
"Yes Jay-Z is a very very sharp smart dude," Chuck tweeted. "And gifted. But with great power comes great responsibility, it is necessary to lead forward."
