Due to struggling to recover from injuries throughout this season, 38-year-old Rasheed Wallace has once again retired from the NBA.  Prior to this season he hadn't played in two years, as he retired once before he joined up with the New York Knicks.  He averaged four points and four rebounds within 21 games played for the Knicks this year, but his court presence was much higher than the numbers indicate.

The Knicks announced his retirement on Wednesday, April 17th.  Head coach for the Knicks, Mike Woodson, released the following statement regarding Rasheed's retirement.

"Rasheed has given this team everything he had.  He is a winner, true professional and leader on and off the court. Due to his injury, he will not be available to play for us during the playoffs."
