Teyana Taylor is already enjoying a good bit of success from her popular Adidas sneaker, the Harlem GLC, and the 22-year-old rapper/singer will also be appearing in the upcoming BET film 'The Start-up' alongside rapper and TV personality Diggy Simmons. However, Taylor is looking to take her achievements to the next level with the release of her debut album later this year.
According to Taylor, the project should definitely be a go to drop this summer. "Right now we are looking at a summer release," she told VIBE. " "Whatever doesn't make the album we will use for my mixtape. We are not going to put any song to waste."
Taylor says one of the greatest things about working on her album has been having Kanye West as a mentor, and she believes he should have been ranked much higher on MTV's recent "Hottest MC's" list.
"Kanye had every right to feel upset," Taylor said of Yeezy, who infamously called up NYC's Hot 97 radio station to vent his displeasure with the ordering of the list. "That's how anybody would feel. Kanye calling up to a radio station is what made his fans see that he still loves the music. He's not just some caveman who doesn't give a damn about his art. He has every right to be in the top 5. 'Ye can talk that sh*t because he can back it up. He has nothing else to prove, honestly."
Taylor says she hopes to release a new single in early summer.
