A Colorado judge entered a not guilty plea for accused mass murderer James Holmes on Tuesday, after his attorney told the court that he wasn't yet ready to make a decision.

"I don't think we can stand before you ethically and say we're ready to enter a plea," said Holmes' Attorney Daniel King. "The nature of the work we're doing is ongoing."

The judge, William Sylvester, set an August trial date, and was very unhappy about King's request for more time. King states that he needs to look further into the legal ramifications of pleading insanity.

"We've made significant progress," King said. "We're just not ready to proceed."

Holmes is facing 166 counts of attempted murder for his alleged actions in Aurora, CO.
