Due to the fact that Michelle Obama wore a sleeveless silver dress during her Oscars presentation, an Iranian news agency had her image altered to what they felt was a more presentable and conservative look for the First Lady.  Not only were her arms showing, but the dress was slightly low cut around her chest, which is definitely not an acceptable look for women in their culture.

Deputy State Department spokesperson Patrick Ventrell commented on the altering of Michelle Obama's Oscar image.

"We've persistently seen Iranian news agencies, whether they're partially or fully state-run, use fabrication and use other means to distort images.  It's something that we've seen in the past here in this department," said Ventrell. "We've seen photos manipulated. We've seen official statements manipulated. So there would be nothing new. It wouldn't surprise me."
