An 18-year-old Chicago woman named Janay Mcfarlane was shot and killed on Friday in North Chicago, the same day her sister had sat behind Barack Obama as he pushed for more gun control.
Chicago police are questioning two people in connection to the death, but no one has been charged yet.
"I really feel like somebody cut a part of my heart out," said Angela Blakely, Mcfarlane's mother.
Mcfarlane's 14-year-old sister was only feet from Obama when he spoke about gun violence in the wake of Hadiya Pendleton's death. Pendleton was a 15-year-old honor student shot about a mile from Obama's Chicago home.
