Lil Wayne's decision to reference Emmett Till on Future's song "Karate Chop" by comparing the beating the 14-year-old boy suffered back in 1955 in Mississippi, to that of having very rough sex, was a very ill-advised one that he's still catching heat for.
On the track Wayne spit:
"I pop a lot of pain pills/beat that p*ssy up like Emmett Till"
The Mayme Till Mobley Memorial Foundation has begun a petition to have the song removed from online sources in order to honor Emmett Till and the tragic death that he suffered where he had his face and head literally beaten until it was nearly flat as a board, all for allegedly whistling at a white woman.
Stevie Wonder who is friends with Lil Wayne even voiced his displeasure and disappointment in Wayne's decision to put that on a song and release it to the public, during a recent interview.
"You can't equate that to Emmett Till. You just cannot do that. ... I think you got to have someone around you that – even if they are the same age or older – is wiser to say, 'Yo, that's not happening. Don't do that.'
"Sometimes people have to put themselves in the place of people who they are talking about. Imagine if that happened to your mother, brother, daughter or your son. How would you feel? Have some discernment before we say certain things. That goes for me or any other (song)writer."
