Mother of Slain Cop Turns Pale at Sight of Bloody Evidence

On December 12th, 2011, NYPD Officer Peter Figoski was shot in the head during a botched robbery attempt. The 47-year-old officer was called to the home of small-time marijuana dealer 52-year-old Carlos Feliciano. Feliciano was abruptly woken from his slumber when he heard commotion within his basement apartment. Frightened, he called the cops and once police arrived her heard one gun shot and looked out to see Officer Figoski lying dead on the basement steps.
He testified against the alleged shooter, 28-year-old Lamont Pride, and getaway driver 23-year-old Michael Velez, in the Brooklyn Supreme Court on Monday, February 4th, recapping the events that took place during the officer being slain.
"I saw the police officer lying on the floor with his legs up in the air with his head down." He began to get choked up at times and appeared very nervous while providing his testimony. After the shooting police officers brought two men down to his apartment for him to identify, and one of them sadly turned out to be his own nephew Nelson Morales.
"I asked him, 'What the hell are you doing there?' It was the last person I expected to see."
Apparently Morales' response was, "I came to help," however prosecutors and investigators have concluded that Morales was the one who orchestrated the robbery attempt. The other man whom police apprehended along with Morales was Ariel Tejada, who was quick to "snitch" on his accomplices and apparently was set to testify against them on Tuesday, February 5th.
Lamont Pride has stressed that he didn't intend to kill Officer Figoski, but regardless of his pleas for understanding, he is facing life in prison without the chance for parole if he is convicted. Meanwhile, the getaway driver, Michael Velez, claimed that he didn't even know a robbery was about to take place as he claimed that he was just driving the car. Regardless, he is facing 25-to-life.
Morales, Feliciano's nephew, and another defendant named Kevin Santos are waiting to stand trial at a later date.
