Shots went off outside of the school building and left 14-year-old 8th grader Telvis Douglas with a bullet wound to the back of his neck.  He was immediately transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, where he was reportedly awake and responsive and his injuries are not life threatening.

A teacher was also injured, as WXIA reported that the teacher may have been trampled on by students fleeing the scene, for the only injuries reported were cuts and bruises.  According to Atlanta Police spokesman Carlos Campos, the two students may have become involved in an altercation which lead to the shooting.
