Serena Williams showed her passion on the court as she smashed her racket to smithereens during her quarterfinal at the Australian Open. In a span of 25 minutes, Serena lost her serve, hurt her back while avoiding contact with the net, leading her to take the second injury timeout of the tournament. She then returned to the court, but something was off- Serena couldn't get her first serve over 90 mph and dropped her first set since the U.S. Open, taking her down 2-1 in the decider.
During the first changeover of the first set Serena paused and smacked her racket twice on the court, rendering it useless.
Williams, who suffered her first loss since August 17th, started off the Grand Slam Down Under by twisting her right ankle, which she talked about during an interview.
"I've had a tough two weeks between the ankle ... and my back, which started hurting. A lot of stuff."
