A South African man performed a citizens arrest on a police officer recently, after he suspected the officer of driving while incredibly wasted.

Russell George claims he saw a police car swerving into oncoming traffic before stopping suddenly, and decided to pull over to check things out. He approached the police car where 28-year-old Officer Constable Nkuleleko Mbanjwa was sitting behind the wheel. After Mbanjwa refused to leave his vehicle, George notified police and decided to leave.

But, George ended up seeing the police vehicle stopped again. He proceeded to pull the severely intoxicated officer out of his car, take the keys, and locked him in the backseat.

"I approached the driver's side and asked him to come out," recalled George. "He looked at me and I could tell that he had been drinking."

After Mbanjwa was taken to the police station, it was revealed that he had been up to mischief almost all day, and possibly even the night before. Mbanjwa was linked to a hit-and-run earlier that day, and even a nightclub incident in which he allegedly held his girlfriend at gunpoint.

Mbanjwa heads to court in July to face possible charges.
