Nick Cannon Asks TMZ To Remove Nightclub Murder Video

About a week ago, TMZ posted a video of a massive brawl outside of a Hollywood, CA. nightclub. Near the end of the clip a man draws a gun and fires several shots at another man, killing him. The slain man was later identified as Andre Lowe.

Andre's uncle, Jason Andrews, started a petition on Change.org which has garnered around 200,000 signatures asking TMZ to remove the video, and Nick Cannon has joined the fight as well.

"Jason and his family are asking TMZ to remove a video of his teen nephew's brutal murder: Will you share?" Nick tweeted on Sunday. Below is the petition:

"TMZ has thoughtlessly and carelessly posted a video of my nephew, Andre Lowe, being shot to death outside a Hollywood nightclub. These people have no regard for the loved ones affected by this tragedy.

I understand freedom of press but the line has to be drawn somewhere. Its very obvious that the media has no morals and nothing is off limits when it comes to gaining ratings. What they did is wrong and they need to be held accountable. No one wants to see their loved one in this position, having this event viewed by millions of strangers is disgusting. This video needs to be removed and an apology issued to the family and friends."

Without that footage how many witnesses do you think would've came forward to give info to the police? None

The footage should have gone to the police first, not the public. If the purpose of the video posting was to help catch the shooter, a screenshot of him is all that would have been needed. Showing Andre laying dead in the street served no purpose at all. Furthermore, the shooter has been arrested and is in police custody, so why does TMZ continue to show this video?

The video clearly shows the shooter and law enforcement tells us they got a number of tips from people who saw it and that led to Thomas' capture. Without this video the killer would have escaped. Chew on that.

No one is saying the video didnt help catch Thomas, but thats not why TMZ posted it. They posted it for shock value and ratings PERIOD. Think Im wrong? then why is the video still posted even though there was already an arrest made? The video may have been edited by now but originally, the video showed Andre laying dead in the street and in slow-mo. What purpose does that serve? how was showing a murdered man in the street going to help catch the killer?

Freedom of the press. To compromise it would invite loads of other videos to be taken down that serve a valuable purpose, such as police brutality videos. Just because people don't like it doesn't mean they can censor it.
