Three random and sudden accidental shootings occurred at gun shows in North Carolina, Indiana and Ohio. At the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, a 12-gauge shotgun accidentally went off when the 36-year-old owner was taking it out of its case. The bullets that disbursed struck three people and sent everyone close by running for their lives. Everyone hit is expected to live.
Another shooting occurred at a gun show run by Conrad and Dowdell Productons. A Taurus semi-automatic 9mm handgun accidentally discharged when its owner took out the weapon and struck his own business partner in the right arm and thigh. The last shooting occurred at the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife Show in Indianapolis, as the owner of a .45 caliber semi-automatic was loading his weapon when he shot himself in the hand.
These shootings have occurred at a highly sensitive time when gun violence and the availability of guns is under the microscope and many people want to see change in terms of restrictions placed on gun ownership.
