Nas Speaks On What Makes An Album Classic

The debate over which albums are "classics" and which aren't has become a difficult argument to juggle, considering that hip hop is now in a different era. It has become almost impossible to gauge the legendary status of an album, especially when no one wants to be patient enough to see if it stands the test of time.

Nas dropped one of the best albums of the year in 2012 with "Life Is Good," but the rapper is not too concerned with its status. He says that the term classic has lost it's essence, and no longer means the same as it used to. Time is more important to Nas than anything else, and no one has given "Life Is Good" the opportunity to prove itself.

"If it's not a classic, that's cool," Nas told MTV News. Time tells--a lot of the time it has to do with time. It's cool, you can call my record a classic; I'm not tripping. Time will really make me feel it or not, and then if a year from now, another two years from now, I really feel like it's a classic and no one else does, I'm gonna make noise! I'm gonna complain."
