Joey Bada$$ Didn't Sign To Roc Nation, Wants To Go Indie Route

Brooklyn's rising star Joey Bada$$ has brought new hope to hip hop heads who missed the '90s style of hip hop that Joey brings to the mic. His talents have reportedly garnered the attention of Jay-Z, as the latest rumor was of Joey's signing to Roc Nation. However, the 18-year-old rapper is not altogether thrilled with the new rumor, and has vehemently denied the suggestion.

"They actually announced it on the radio that I signed with them--that was dumb as f***," Joey told The Source. "Won't sign to no major, for no wager, less than a 3 million offer off the top, I be in a box when my coffin drops, why settle for an office spot? That type of thing, you know. Not really, major labels is just not where my head is at right now, you know? [Independent?] Yeah, that's more of where my head is at, cause that's what I'm tryna do, I'm tryna go more independent."

Is Joey Bada$$ worth $3 million? His lyrical gifts are undoubtable, but is he commercially accessible?

If people must know the real reason he didn't sign is because he's already signed to cinenimatic music group the same record lable big krit and smoke dza are signed to and they have dealings with dame dash's company dd172 umbrella so of course he not going to sign to roc nation nobody wants to sign over there jay has fucked so many of his artist over its crazy and in anybodies rite mind who wants to be an artist signed to another artist I'll wait

It doesn't matter how much you get off a deal its a loan lesson 1. This kid is better off going independent start his own label and work that way in order to make more money. His lyrics are better than um let's see... Everyone in the industry that only raps about money, pussy, cars and mansions. He speaks the truth through his music.

I don't think he'll get a $3 million dollar deal. What contract the ASAP crew got was meant to start a label under another label. Roc a fella under def jam, cash money under universal and so on. He prolly wants 3 mil so others from pro era can get better production so they too can be heard and some attention and following can start for them. But as long as they keep saying joey badass and pro era that probably won't happen
