QD3 Speaks on The Carter Film
Lil Wayne has to be the busiest guy in hip hop.
Seriously, the dude is everywhere. He's guest featured on songs, released classic material, and has seen a lot of the inside of a courtroom lately, and still continues to put together new material to hold fans over as he is about to serve a 8 month prison sentence.
Sounds like it would make a good movie doesn't it?
Well it does.
QD3, the son of legendary musician and producer Quincy Jones who is no slouch behind the camera has produced a solid documentary that has received some critical acclaim but is now the subject of a lawsuit as Wayne's camp is trying to block the release.
Here's what QD3 says about the situation:
"While we were making the movie, it was all love. And we played him the film and he was into it. He liked it and then they found out we got it into Sundance [Film Festival], everyone was excited. And just like, maybe seven to ten days before Sundance, all of a sudden, some people from his team said 'Pull the whole movie' and that's not in our agreement, it's not part of what we signed up for, everybody 'was' excited. So we're not sure what exactly the issue was, it's sort of a double edged sword but I think long-term, I believe, that this movie will make him iconic."
