Good for Nas. Finally, a true MC is getting props for pure talent.

I respect for CNN for getting it right. On only did they get it right but they also broke it down. You gonna have a lot of nay sayers because its people's opinion but one thing is you can't compare another mc on how consistently originally lyrically wise NAS puts it down line by line career wise

But I think 95% of real hip-hop heads top 5 goes like this (no order) Nas, Jay-Z, 2Pac, BIG & Em. 6-10 would be Rakim, BDK, Andre 3000, Pun & KRS 1.

I could never # the greatest lyricist list, tried for 10 yrs. but here's my picks but not in order. Nas, BIG, JayZ, Em, Pun, 2pac (even though he's not really considered a "lyricist"), Scarface, Beans, Jada, Rakim, KRS1, BDK, Budden (may be a shocker, but lyrically he's a monster. Also the whole Slaughterhouse), Fab, Kanye, Mos Def, Kweli, Ice Cube, Wayne, Phonté, Snoop, Redman, Treach, Outkast (esp. Andre 3000), T.I., Drake (don't kill me, I just think when he was a "backpack mc" on his early mixtape he was crazy, he still is lyrically nice but allot of so-called "hip-hop heads" on the Internet that's probably a 16yr old white kid in the suburbs, hate him because he's on YMCMB, blew up & is on the radio), UGK, Dead Prez, Sean Price, Saigon, Jay Electronica, Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole, Lloyd Banks & Big L. But in 2012, 3 albums that stuck out lyrically is Nas's "Life is Good", Slaughterhouse "Welcome To Our House" & Kendrick Lamar "Good Kid, M.A.D.D. City". But to be honest, the best lyricist in the world today are battle rappers.

That was a solid list, really, really solid. Of course with time to think I could add on but, that was really solid bro. here's some to add on Cool G Rap, RBG, D.O.C., DMC, Kieth Murray, Prodigy, Neek the Exotic(although not enough material, tight lyricist) Cannibus...
