Drake's "You wasn't with me shooting in the gym" lyrics on the "Stay Schemin'" single became a highly popular phrase that spread across the nation in 2012, and his reference was to Kobe and Vanessa Bryant's divorce case at the time.  When the song came out, Kobe and Vanessa were in the middle of a divorce settlement which included her walking away with half of his monetary earnings, along with three of their mansions.  She caught negative press and was seen by many young men who are fans of Kobe as a "gold digger" and Drake's hot line only further tainted her image.

Drake directly commented on his lyrics a while back and clarified that they weren't intended to hurt Vanessa:

"That line came from a conversation about being this young and making this much money and the fear of losing it all. I just used his potential situation to address my own life. I never intended to offend Vanessa or anyone else."

She's waited until now, however, to finally share her input on what Drake says and how people may perceive her because of his lyrics.  She addressed the matter on Instagram when some people commented on her profile mentioning the song and what he said.
