Ryan Leslie Forced To Pay Additional $180K In Laptop Case

In early December, singer Ryan Leslie was ordered to pay $1 million to Armin Augstein, the man who found Leslie's laptop after the singer lost it back in 2010. Leslie vowed to fork over the cash to anyone who recovered the lost item and Augstein ultimately took him to court to make sure that he followed up on his promise. Now it's been reported that a judge has once again ruled in favor of Mr. Augstein and has ordered Leslie to pay an additional $180,000, according to ABC news.

David DeStefano, Leslie's attorney, spoke on the matter and stated that the music on the laptop was more valuable than anyone knew.

"He made a second reward video and offered $1 million for just the intellectual property on the external hard drive and computer, the session files," he said. "They're different from just an MP3, MP3s are nothing for a producer or a studio engineer, they can't do anything with them. They need the session files. These were his compositions."

Leslie's attorney is looking to appeal the judge's decision, stating that the music was stolen from Ryan Leslie after the laptop was discovered.

"This music was stolen from him," DeStefano said. "That was it. That was his composition. Those were his files, and he was unable to release an album for two years. So as an artist he released two albums in 2009 and was nominated in 2009, and then he was not able to release an album for two years."
