Kim Kardashian has reportedly put a hex on Kanye West's career, as the superstar rapper is being accused of hurting his own image by appearing on Kim's reality show and showing up for random appearances with her. One industry source spoke out about the relationship to Confidenti@l, revealing that Kanye's popularity has dipped since he's been dating Kim.
"His personal life is overpowering his music. Every time he plays, people are wondering if Kim is going to be there. It's not a good thing for him, especially if he wants to be taken seriously."
Kim is also reportedly affecting Kanye's income, as the rapper was offered several New Year's gigs, but only if he brought Kim along.
"Kanye was actually offended by the offers," says the source.
Despite the source making the claims about Kanye, ales for West's upcoming show at Revel in Atlantic City are "not close to being sold out," according to one ticket broker. Another incident showing Kanye's waning popularity happened when a large portion of the audience walked out during his performance at the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy benefit.
"Literally half the audience got up to go to the bathroom and it was the talk of the men's room," one attendee told Confidenti@l's Marianne Garvey.
However, Kanye's allegedly not oblivious to his career taking a recent hit, and he's enlisted in the top industry professionals to get him back on top.
"He has been meeting with top-level music executives seeking advice," says the source. "He's not happy with the direction things have been going."
