The end of 2012 is nearing and many music fans are beginning to weigh in on some of the best albums of the year, and Time recently compiled a list of their 10 best albums and 10 best songs of the year. Their grouping includes all genres of music and features a few notable names.

Kendrick Lamar's debut album "good kid m.A.A.d. city" landed at the number two spot on Time's list. They even spoke very highly of the West Coast rap newcomer, saying Kendrick is "the most promising artist in hip-hop". 

Frank Ocean, who has had an up and down year, saw his "Channel Orange" album land one spot behind Lamar at the number three spot. Azealia Banks' "1991 EP" came in at the number nine slot followed by Killer Mike's "R.A.P. Music" LP at number 10.
