Marvin Gaye's Family to Stop Biopic Starring Lenny Kravitz

Marvin Gaye's family isn't too pleased about an upcoming biopic about the late singer, starring Lenny Kravitz, and they are fighting to get production shut down. Marvin Gaye III publicly spoke out about the film, calling it "shameful."

"The producers and directors of this film are very wrong and shameful," Marvin Gaye III told TMZ. "[They're] trying to do a film about a low period in his life. They don't even know the whole story."

Interestingly enough Marvin Gaye III and Lenny went to school together, and Gaye wants to discuss the project with Lenny to understand "why he would do this." The film reportedly focuses on Marvin's life in the 80's when he was battling drug abuse and depression, which his family strongly opposes.

Marvin Jr. and his family are currently meeting with lawyers to stop the filming, and added "I would hope [Lenny] doesn't have any idea that we are against this film being done."

Marvin Gaye was and still is an legend in the sense of as a renaissance man, man of style, peace, spirituality and help push sexuality in R&B all the while maintaining class in a sensible fashion. It's funny and sad how the average hip hop fan doesn't know anything about actual black musicians (wether r&b, jazz, blues, rock & roll, etc.) that every rapper samples for a beat. You can give a opinion on someone like Marvin Gaye unless you know music period in general! Step up your intellect!!

Where was his family when he was going thru the low period of his life? His own father shot him.. What's the problem with making a biopic about a legend? Everyone knows what he went thru none of which were worst then his own father taking his life r.i.p to Marvin gaye and I would b interested n cn what he went thru
