Details surrounding the incident are still hazy, but it has been reported that Kansas City Chief's linebacker Jovan Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself and taking his own life. Jovan reportedly shot his girlfriend at a house near the team's facility on Saturday morning, and then drove to a facility near the team's main campus where he shot himself.
According to the Kansas City Star, members of the team's staff attempted to stop Jovan from injuring anyone else before he shot himself. After Jovan killed himself the facility was immediately evacuated and is currently on police lockdown.
Albert Breer of the NFL Network reported that the mother of Jovan's girlfriend called police to alert them that her daughter had been shot. A short moment later police were also alerted of Jovan being at the Chief's facility, where they rushed to the scene. Once police arrived to the scene, they found Jovan with a gun to his head, and as soon as an officer exited his car Jovan shot himself in the head.
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer revealed that the Chief's players are currently assembling at the team's main facility, where they could be alerted of the news.
