Mary J. Blige Accused of Defaulting On Loan, Hit With Lawsuit

Legendary R&B singer Mary J. Blige is on the receiving end of a lawsuit that's been filed against her by a Manhattan bank which accuses Blige and her husband, Martin Isaacs, of defaulting on a loan in the amount of $2.2 million. The suit was filed on Wednesday in New York State Supreme Court and according to the documents, Signature Bank is looking to obtain the full amount of the loan in addition to $58,000 in interest.

The suit alleges that Mary J. and her husband took out the loan back in October of 2011 and defaulted just this past July. The singer's publicist declined to provide a comment on the matter, as did her attorney.

This isn't the first legal issue for the Queen of R&B. Earlier in the year, her charity, The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now Inc., was accused of improperly handling funds as well as committing wrongdoings against scholarship students. Back in June, Blige made a statement regarding this previous issue.

"The lives of young women are at stake. I feel what they feel. I don't want them to suffer. I promised them something and I'm gonna deliver. Period."
