Nicki Minaj's "Re-Up" Only Sells 34K, Blames Target & Walmart

Nicki Minaj's release of her The Re-Up album only sold a disappointing 34,000 copies so far, and Nicki isn't too happy with her low sales numbers. The album features eight new songs from the artist, but that just may not be enough to make her fans run out and purchase the CD. She spoke to The Breakfast Club recently about why she believes her album sales are so low at the moment, and in her reasoning she names Target, Walmart, and Best Buy as reasons behind her low sales.
"It is hard to get the album because the stores basically said that the last few re-releases they had put out did not do well and they didn't want to take a chance. o, Target and Walmart is not selling the album. Target is actually my biggest retailer — they've always been my biggest retailer. They've sold the most Nicki Minaj albums ever, so, thank you, Target. But I wish you could've sold this one.
"The Best Buy retailer only took limited [quantities] because they're like 'Oh we don't know, we want to play it safe,' so it's very difficult and it kind of sets you up to fail. Some of my fans have been driving hours, literally hours, to get one CD. But it is what it is, and I appreciate the support, and I'm excited about the music."
According to Walmart spokesperson Veronica Marshall, they would've sold Nicki's CD if she gave them an edited censored version to offer their customers.
"We do not carry any music that has a parental advisory label on it. However, we carry edited versions of those music titles. That album did not come with an edited option, so that's why Walmart isn't carrying that album."
Looks like Nicki has some work cut out for her if she hopes to pick up her sales numbers.
