Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was scheduled to appear at a boxing gala in Poland back in 2011 but never showed up to the event. Because of his absence, a Poland court has ordered Tyson to shell out $48,000 after the event's organizer, Tomasz Babilonski, sued him in March for compensation and interest.

Judge Igor Tuleya's decision to have Tyson pay the money only took effect this month because Tyson did not appeal the ruling. The decision can be fulfilled through European Union regulations, according to a spokesman for the Regional Court in Warsaw.

Polish newspaper The Gazeta Wyborcza Daily covered the situation. They stated that Babilonski filed the lawsuit because Mike Tyson's management refused to discuss the matter of compensation for his no-show.
