Jared Loughner, the man responsible for shooting Gabrielle Giffords in the head, and killing 6 others as well as shooting and injuring 13 more unfortunate individuals, has just avoided the death penalty.  Instead, he's been hit with what some might consider to be an even worse punishment: SEVEN life sentences!

He was originally being charged with 49 criminal counts; however, he was recently sentenced on November 8th to 19 counts, which include attempted assassination and first degree murder of two federal employees, among many other charges.  Gabby and her husband attended his sentencing in court during which her husband Mark Kelly looked Loughner in the eyes and addressed him directly when he said, "You may have put a bullet through her head, but you have not put a dent in her spirit, and her ability to do good."

Loughner is only 24-years-old, and plead "guilty" in August to the shootings after he was treated for schizophrenia.  Given that he is so young and must serve out seven life sentences, he'll be forced with no other choice than to suffer the rest of his life behind the harsh prison bars.  Justice has been served.
