NYC Man Sentenced to 50 Years for Burning Woman in Elevator

Jerome Isaac, the man responsible for burning a 73-year-old woman alive in the elevator of her Brooklyn apartment building, will serve 50 years after pleading guilty to first-degree murder and second-degree arson charges.
Back in December, Isaac, 48, cornered Deloris Gillespie in the elevator of her Prospect Heights apartment building, where he doused her with gasoline and lit her on fire. While Gillespie was trying to fight Isaac off, he poured accelerant on her and threw a Molotov cocktail in the elevator. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Isaac admitted the murder to police, which was all caught on suveillance camera, and revealed that he was motivated after Gillespie didn't pay him for housework and chores he performed for her. Family and friends of Gillespie revealed that she hired Isaac to do work for her, because he was down on his luck, and she felt bad for him. She even trusted him with a key to her apartment.
Things went awry between the two after Gillespie claimed that Isaac had stolen items from her apartment, leaving her to change the locks and fire Issac, but he continued to harass her over the money he thought he was owed.
Isaac is set to receive his official sentencing on November 30th in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
