Cop Tasers 10-Year-Old Boy in New Mexico

New Mexico Motor Transportation Officer Chris Webb is currently embroiled in a lawsuit after tasing a 10-year-old boy at Tularosa New Mexico Intermediate School back in May. Webb says he thought the taser was unloaded, and insists it was a mistake, but the boy has reportedly suffered emotional damage as a result of the incident.

During a career day event the officer reportedly asked a group of boys who wanted to clean his patrol unit, but the boy, named R.D. in the lawsuit, declined to wash the car. The officer then allegedly pointed his taser at the boy and said, "Let me show you what happens to people who do not listen to the police."

The lawsuit reveals that the officer then "shot two barbs into R.D.'s chest," coursing 50,000 volts into his body, which caused him to lose consciousness. Rachel Higgins, who filed the suit, revealed that "R.D., has woken up in the middle of the night holding his chest, afraid he is never going to wake up again."

Webb claims that he forgot about reloading the Taser cartridge before showing the device to a group of kids earlier that day, and was subsequently suspended for three days.
