The emergence of internet radio has opened new doors for musicians and created new ways for artists to make money. Pandora reportedly pays popular acts like Lil Wayne and Drake $3 million a year because of how often their music is bumped on their radio. Other acts such as Coldplay, Adele, Wiz Khalifa, and Jason Aldean make over $1 million from Pandora each year.
Maybe more importantly, Pandora will still pay smaller acts upwards of $10,000 per year, which for the first time could usher in a wave of middle class musicians.
