On September 26, Lupe Fiasco attended a community meeting in Philadelphia, run by a group called Rap Sessions. The group of artists, scholars, and activists gather to talk about social and political issues, this time to discuss "Hip Hop, The Youth Vote and the 2012 Presidential Election".

This meeting would mark the first public comments Lupe has made about the debate he had with D.L. Hughley on Twitter last week. Hughley and journalist Roland Martin chastised Lupe for not planning to vote in 2012, and said his decision to do so could discourage other young black men from voting.

Lupe was already in Philly promoting "Food and Liquor II" when he heard about the meeting, and tweeted at the panelists, "I'll be there in 5 minutes."

Lupe claimed his views had been misrepresented by the Twitter beef and he attempted to clear the smoke. "I'm not there to tell you who to vote for, what to drink and what to dress," said the eloquent Fiasco. "I'm there to tell you the ingredients. I'm saying this has a whole lot of high fructose corn syrup in it and you know what high fructose corn syrup is...but I'm not saying don't drink it. It's not my role."

Fiasco believes voting at the local level can make a bigger difference for people immediately around you. Lupe referenced various times he had been involved in Chicago's voting process and even his co-sign of rapper Rhymefest's run for alderman in 2010.
