Rap newcomer Kendrick Lamar is gearing up for the release of his new album "Good Kid, m.A.A.d City". His debut LP will be hitting stores in early October and working with Dr. Dre, Lamar says he wants to make an impact at that right moment.
"I want to come in at the perfect time when I think everyone thinks that the actual essence of lyrics can't survive anymore," he said in a recent interview.
While Lamar's upcoming project is set in stone, there's still the matter of the long-awaited "Detox" album which seems like it's been in limbo forever. While he didn't offer any new details on a release, Kendrick did say that it's still in progress.
"Dre is a perfectionist," Lamar said. "I'm going to say this, Y'all will get it when you get it. When he feels it's time, then it's time."
