Soon after Hip-Hop mogul Chris Lighty took his own life, several reports began to circulate that claimed he and his wife Veronica had gotten into a heated argument in the moments leading up to the suicide. There were also reports stating that she had filed for divorce, which ultimately pushed him over the edge. But in a recent interview with the Daily News, Veronica Lighty opened up about the situation and blasted those claims, saying there is no truth to them at all.

"My husband was too smart of a man. He was a genius. No smart man is going to leave his children for fighting with his wife," she told the Daily News. That makes absolutely no sense. We had a passionate relationship. We fought all the time."

Further reports suggested that Chris Lighty, who worked with the likes of 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, and Busta Rhymes, was having serious financial troubles and owed up to $five million to the IRS. But once again, his wife Veronica denied the claims, as well as those that said he was distraught because of the divorce filing.

"I had filed for divorce last year, but retracted it" two days before Father's Day, she said. "That was my gift to him." In regards to her husband's reported debt, Veronica simply said "We were not in debt $5 million."

As she closed out the interview, she continued to have nothing but good things to say about her husband.

"My husband was obsessed and adored me. He was one of the most beautiful people that I have ever met in my life. Let him die proud, at peace because that's what he needed and that's what he wanted. He just wanted peace and he wanted to relieve all that stress."

The couple were married for 10 years.
