Hip-Hop Manager Chris Lighty Passes Away

Sources have been confirming reports that long time Hip-Hop manager and Violator Management founder Chris Lighty has passed away. While full details are still being determined, it appears that he died from an apparent suicide. Law enforcement officials say Lighty shot himself in the head in his Bronx apartment. A gun was also discovered near his body.

Violator Management has worked with some of music's most renowned artists, including the likes of Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, Missy Elliott, Fantasia, Mýa, Diggy Simmons, Cormega, Ja Rule, Mobb Deep, LL Cool J, Nas just to name a few.

Lighty's longtime friend and fellow manager, Jeff Robinson, confirmed the heartbreaking news on his Twitter account.

"So very sad about Chris lighty..Great long time friend,fellow bronxite and peer...incredible businessman and person."

Within minutes of the news breaking online, celebs who worked with and knew of Lighty's legacy in the music industry took to Twitter to voice their sorrows.

We send our condolences to Chris Lighty's family and hope they stay strong during this very challenging time.

Hey! I used to sleepwalk and shweor in the middle of the night too! Interesting I had never met anyone else who went as far as shweoring in the middle of the night.Sorry to hear that Asher's going through a rough patch with the sleeping. awe takes me back for sure! know that these days will pass..I promise! lol you are doing a great job conftroimg your sweet babe and napping when he does! Finding balance with work and baby is tough! I still do not have it mastered not many mamas do. Our babes have minds of their own and don't fit into a neat little schedule:) (boy..don't we wish they did:) ha Hugs to you!

- Incredible! I know the subject hlpeed, but you really captured the beauty in the colours and the joy of the occasion. The wedding was so much fun. The couple (particularly Chris!) look like they're really enjoying themselves. My faves: Mona's hands behind Chris' back, and Mona and Chris dancing. Just fantastic!

Beau and Bethany did a wonderful job on our ptoohs! We couldn't be happier. They are definately a team that works great together and loves to have as much fun as Josh and I do. It was a perfect fit for us. The ptoohs capture Josh and I in our normal fun loving and laughing moments and are a true reflection on who we are and how we are together as a couple. My favorite photo on this blog is the image of Josh and I in a field kissing. It was a spur of the moment shot where I decided to climb a hill. Beau gave us the freedom to take any shot we wanted at any time which was great! Bethany and Beau are great and we love ya guys!

Bullshit is what this is. Everything is a damn cover-up in the music industry, and this suicide shit they're throwing out there are one of them. Chris Lighty was a typical sacriface...whether Solstice or blood...simple as that.

u probly barely own a radio let alone know ppl in the music industry ppl are so quick to speak on industry stuff with absolutely know background stop throwing out things u read on the internet and making up ur own version of the truth! please tell me u r in this industry because if ur not u sure r speaking strongly on something and id hope it came from a better place than ur ass!! sacrifice????? stop it!!

the Great Things He Has Done In the Life of chris light and the thousands of lives he touched while on earth. It has been so hard four hiphop since you departed and yet,your legacy lives on through the precious memories, but u are appearances, his family; especially his family and those who loved and cared for him.
