Former NBA player and three time All-Star Dan Roundfield died on Tuesday while swimming off the coast of Aruba. Roundfield and his wife Bernie were swimming at a beach called "Baby Beach". The couple had been there several times before and continued to go because they thought it was safe. Roundfield's wife got caught in a patch of rough water, and while attempting to save her, Dan Roundfield was whisked off under water. Police found his body trapped underwater between rocks after a 90 minute search. His wife was eventually saved by a man snorkeling nearby.

Roundfield played 11 professional seasons with Atlanta, Indiana, Detroit, and Washington, averaging 15.2 points per game for his career. In the 1980, 1981, and 1982 seasons, Roundfield was an All-Star while playing with the Hawks.

His former teammate Dominique Wilkins commented on Roundfield's passing, saying he was the "most honest and upfront person I knew. He taught me how to be a professional and took me under his wing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, I will truly miss him."
