Snoop Dogg In Favor of Serena Williams' C-Walk

After she won her first Olympic singles Gold Medal over this past weekend, tennis superstar Serena Williams celebrated by doing the Crip Walk. Williams, who's from Compton where the dance was made popular by the notorious street gang, only performed it for a few seconds but made headlines even in that short instance.

While many people criticized her for doing the C-Walk, there were several others who applauded her for it including West Coast rap veteran Snoop Dogg who has been affiliated with the gang for some time throughout his career. He took to Twitter and showed his approval for Serena and her dance moves.

"Shout out to Serena Williams. C walking at the Olympics Cpt style hahahahah! Go girl."

Instead of congratulating her, some of these self hating African Americans want to talk shit about her??? Do your thing Serena Williams, and rep your hood!!! But, "SNOOP" is a hypocrite, because I remember when he was talking shit about people not affiliated with the "CRIPS" doing the "C-Walk"!!!

I think it unsettles white folks when black people who are successful embrace any marker of their blackness because we’re told over and over that blackness = negative and that whiteness = positive and we have to pretend to believe that to varying degrees to reach success in the first place… so when we reveal that we didn’t internalize the white supremacist hype that blackness is negative it throws the white folks off & they don’t have anything to do but rabidly say “she has no class” & “why is she so ghetto” because they have to in order to rationalize that whiteness is superior in their heads. When we show that we not only haven’t internalized that White supremacist bullshit and are not ashamed of our Blackness but are daring to LOVE our Blackness and love it out loud, in public and IN FRONT OF THEM it’s like feeding a computer a logical paradox/contradiction. They do have to try to shame us at least to hide from them that we love ourselves so they’ll make fun of that happy, proud Blackness we let peep through. Make no mistake, it wasn’t the type of dance Serena did. It was that she danced at all and in a very recognized BLACK fashion. If it wasn’t the Crip Walk, they’d have shat on the fact she wiggled her hips.

@Marlowe, you are 100% correct!!! A lot of other races and nationalities do it also. They come to this country and turn their noses up, and look down at us, copy us every chance they get!!! I love my culture and everything about it, but I can't stand it when I hear another black person speak in a negative way about African Americans. I've noticed that any thing that comes out of the "HOOD" is looked at as being negative, until white society embraces it.
