Music industry veteran and CEO of SRC Records Steve Rifkind announced via Twitter that he would be leaving the label after a long and successful run.

"All great things come to a end. Yes it's true I'm leaving SRC Universal as of Sept 1. Want to thank all the artist 4 a great run."

Rifkind is responsible for bringing legendary artists such as Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep and Big Pun to fame while managing the label. Due to his success, XXL magazine dubbed Rifkind the man "responsible for breaking in some of hip-hop's biggest artists in his 25 years in the business."

In a recent interview with The Source, Rifkind gave insight into the current state of the business when asked about the greatest and worst things associated with it.

"When you still hear a great voice and somebody that can still give me goose bumps when I hear them. The worst thing is corporate. They're killing the business."

No word on what will become of SRC Records at this juncture, but the impression made by the label will be felt for a lifetime.
